Pokies game guide: rules, features and RTP

Choose the question first

If you want to understand why a screen paid, find the win type first. Payline games require symbols in specified positions. Ways games count combinations across consecutive reels. Cluster games usually need connected groups, while scatter-pays games can count matching symbols anywhere. These rules are not interchangeable, even when the artwork looks similar.

Next read the feature rules. A wild may substitute for ordinary symbols without replacing a scatter. A multiplier may affect one combination, a whole tumble sequence or an entire feature. Check exactly when it is applied and when it resets. The on-screen win counter is more reliable than counting an unfinished animation.

Start with Sweet Bonanza

Our Sweet Bonanza guide explains the six-by-five grid, pays-anywhere symbol counts, tumbling wins and free-spin multiplier symbols. It also separates the original release from Sweet Bonanza 1000: a similar tile does not mean identical feature values or maximum-win rules.

Before using any game, open its information panel and confirm the full title, selected stake, payout table, feature conditions and RTP where shown. Provider descriptions explain the design, but the live rules describe the version actually loaded. Availability in a sponsored casino lobby is not guaranteed by this guide.

A maximum prize is not a plan

A headline win multiple describes an upper limit, not how likely it is. It cannot tell you whether an ordinary session will last five minutes or an hour. RTP is a long-run average, and volatility describes variation around that average; neither predicts your next spin.

Free play can help you learn controls without staking money. Keep it separate from real-money decisions: a demonstration win does not make the next paid round more likely to succeed. Set a time limit, never chase losses, and do not use money needed for bills. Online casino services cannot lawfully be provided to people in Australia.
